It’s that time of year again! No, not the holidays, that’s the good part. Just about everyone is SICK, hacking, sneezing, sniffling, complaining of nights up vomiting, just not feeling good….. EXCEPT, us plant powered people! Yes, it’s true, not simply vegan propaganda! Plant powered people do not get sick like the average person on the pathetic, utterly devoid of nutrition, western diet.
Doni and I (Elaine) were working in the office and commenting on employees complaining of being sick while WE never fall ill. Coincidence? No way! If you had known me before my lifestyle change, you would have seen a person who was sick most of the time. Whatever bug came around, I’d get it twice. My allergies were so bad, I was on two prescription medications, I had taken the allergy shot series (which made me so sick I could hardly stand it!), and I still felt awful most of the time. I was still sick with allergies throughout the year: Sinus infections – at least twice a year, Bronchitis – at least once a year, Pneumonia – I had it twice and was warned that the next time I got it I’d have to be admitted to the hospital. I was told I’d have to live with an inhaler and things would likely get worse with time. I thought I was pretty much normal as far as the illnesses that everyone else was getting, though I’d get them twice as often. It’s just the way things were, suck it up and keep on moving! The doctors offered no hope for me, only the grim reality that I should expect things to get worse with time. Sound familiar?
If I had only known what I know now! The suffering and misery I could have been spared! That is why I’m sharing this with YOU! Are you tired of being sick and tired? Well, you don’t have to be sick anymore! And you don’t have to take any magic potions or do silly things like send posts to 10 of your friends! HEALING is available to ALL of us and it costs NOTHING.
Why is it that a plant based diet is so health promoting while the typical diet is so health depleting? It’s really simple when you stop and think about it. Your body requires certain nutrients to function optimally. Plants are loaded with those nutrients that your body needs to keep your immune system functioning optimally. And, whole plant food’s nutrients have a synergy about them that science still does not fully understand. The whole is just better than the individual parts. The diet of most people in the USA is comprised of less than 6% plant foods! No wonder we, in the USA, are the some of the sickliest people with the most ridiculously expensive healthcare in the world! Over 20% of the average American’s diet is animal products and over 40% processed foods, these foods have ZERO nutrition.
Did you know that your immune system is powered by the bacteria living in your gut? It’s true. And to get the health promoting bacteria, we need to eat the right diet because when we eat, we are feeding those little immune boosting bugs in our guts. When we feast on animal foods and processed foods, we kill off these health promoters and flood our guts with not so great bacteria. And, we get sick, usually often. Could it be because they are funded primarily by junk food, restaurant and meat/dairy commercials? Stop and think about this for a minute…. There is NO financial incentive for anyone in wellness and health. The money is in disease care and that’s exactly what we have, disease care. Treating symptoms of problems caused primarily by what we put in our mouths.
How to do it
Want a different outcome than the average person? Then you must do things differently and it all starts with your diet. It’s easier than ever to eat a delicious plant based diet! I remember the time when there was only salad and tofu but now, there are wonderful cook books to help make amazing plant food dishes and for the transition, there are even mock meats that taste almost identical to animal foods but without all of the saturated fat, antibiotics, hormones and growth promoters found in meat, milk and eggs. Why not give it a go and see for yourself?Let me warn you, it takes 21 days for your tastes to change and an even longer time to bring your gut flora back to health. During the transition, you could feel ill, find yourself with more gas than normal in your gut and even get headaches. This is normal and if you hang in there, it will pass and the reward will be worth it all! Why not get a few friends together or start a meet up group so you have people to encourage your big change. People switching to a new lifestyle have lost as much as 20 lbs in a month and they don’t have to count calories or deprive themselves of real food!
